Colorblind Image Tester

Upload biology-oriented, scientific figures and obtain a prediction about whether the figures are friendly to people with moderate-to-severe, red-green colorblindness (deuteranopia). This application will show a version of the image that approximates how it would look to a person with deuteranopia. It will also provide a prediction about whether the image would be friendly to a person with deuteranopia. It makes these predictions based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) trained on manually reviewed images. The CNN is accurate, but it is not perfect; therefore, we encourage biologists to use this tool as a starting point, not to obtain definitive answers about whether a given image is friendly or not. All processing occurs within your browser. We do not store a copy of uploaded images.

Simulated image

This image is displayed how someone with 80% deuteranopia would see it.

Prediction

Our model predicts that this image is:

Friendly / Unfriendly

X% confidence

Relatively high confidence values imply that the model is more confident in its its predictions.
